New Focus introduces the first commercial DC auto-balancing
photoreceiver. Traditional balanced photoreceivers, which
require the user to manually balance the power in a reference
and signal arm, can be difficult to use. The Nirvana auto-
balancing photoreceiver solves this problem by electronically
balancing the photocurrents from the signal and reference
photodiodes. These photoreceivers provide greater than 50-dB
noise suppression even at frequencies of less than 100 kHz.
Their sensitivity and ease-of-use make them ideal for
applications which require highly sensitive shot-noise-limited
measurments. These auto-balancing photoreceivers are
especially useful for spectroscopy, biomedical applications,
and electro-optic sampling.
